Charlie's Promise Fundraiser - 21 for 21
21K Run/Walk for Charlie's 21st Birthday on Sat 24th and 25th October
In support of the Charlies Promise charity please see below details and the link for their 21 for 21 Charity Run.
Charlie would have turned 21 on 28 October this year – a milestone he never got the chance to reach. To mark his 21st birthday, throughout October we are running 21 for 21 – 21 Promises for Charlie, asking individuals, schools, businesses, sports clubs and community groups to make a promise to do something positive in Charlie’s memory while helping us raise awareness of knife crime, particularly among children and young people.
Importantly, 21 for 21 is not simply a fundraising campaign. Raising awareness, starting conversations and helping young people understand the dangers and consequences of knife crime is just as important to us. A promise can be anything meaningful – from taking on a challenge or organising a fundraiser, to sharing Charlie’s story, holding an awareness activity or simply helping us spread the message to more young people.
As part of the campaign, we are holding our 21 for 21 Run Weekend at Merrist Wood College on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October. This could perhaps be the Pumas’ 21 Promise, with players, coaches and families taking part together or individual teams might like to enter as a group.
Saturday will include a 10k, 5k and 2.1k Family Fun Run, followed on Sunday by our 21k run/walk, so there really is something for everyone. The weekend falls at the start of October half-term, so hopefully it will avoid clashes with football fixtures and make it easier for families to join us.
